GoodGame

Usually, when you talk about streaming process, you talk about Twitch. Some of you may also think about YouTube Gaming. Most people don’t really care about the existence of other streaming platforms. Of course, both platforms that were mentioned are good, they both deal with their tasks with ease. But they are not even close to be immaculate. That’s why you should also take a look on other streaming platforms. Today we will talk about GoodGame.

So, what is it?

GoodGame is a Russian streaming platform. It is actually pretty similar with its main competitors but it has its own features and advantages.

The first thing you will look at after you appear at the main page is the website design. It is composed of many different elements: there is a streaming bar, there is also a news list right next to it, combined with galleries, chats, different topics and even tournament registration files. Even though the main idea is good – you don’t need to make different websites if you can combine everything in one page – the level of performance could be much better. It looks like a total mess and it is pretty hard to deal with. The good thing is you can customize the appearance of the main page by your own but, to be honest, you will spend dozens of time just to find the ‘settings’ button.

As it was mentioned before, you can participate in e-sports tournaments via GoodGame, and you can also create your own ones. Because of the well-developed chat/topic system, it is pretty easy to find yourself a nice team, or, again, you can even create your own teams.

As many other streaming services, GoodGame has its own premium subscription. It is one of the most significant ways to support the streamer. After the purchase of the subscription, you’ll be allowed to watch him without any advertisement, and you’ll get all custom emoji from streamer. GoodGame Plus works as the another version of it, which explains why it is called ‘the global premium’. With it, you’ll be able to use ‘global’ emoji, but you’ll still be unable to use streamer ones. Sounds a bit complicated, but really it’s not.

How can you stream with GoodGame?

1. First thing you need to do – you need to make your own account on GoodGame, and you’ll need to login. The registration form is located at the top right corner of your screen. You need to remember one thing – login that you’ll choose will also be the name of your channel. You will not be able to change or delete it.

2. Add your channel.

3. You’ll need to choose one of the most popular streaming tools: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) or XSplit.

4, You’ll need to choose Custom / Custom RTMP streaming service in settings, then you need to enter rtmp://msk.goodgame.ru:1940/live in your RTMP URL field, and you will need to put a stream key that is located in your channel’s settings page into the Play Path / Stream key field.

Rules of GoodGame

GoodGame is all about gaming and e-sports. Nevertheless, you can stream whatever you want: from cooking shows to cosplay events. All you need to do is to follow these rules:

1. Streams about politics

Streams about politics or streams with political context are being permanently banned on GoodGame. In case you accidentally say something on this topic, you should turn on the ‘controversial content’ option in your settings bar. You can also read more about this option in your settings. The only exclusion are games which consist political elements but politics is not their main part, e.g. Saints Row series.

2. Obscene language

GoodGame does not like obscene language and you can be punished for it in some cases. Streamer can use obscene language and streamer can stream games with obscene language (like South Park or The Witcher 3), but only after he turns on the ‘18+’ option in the channel’s settings. You can also be banned for sending links which contain obscene language.

In case your in-game teammates use such language, you won’t be banned even if you don’t have such an option turned on. Streamer can also turn off Alisa (filter of obscene language), and that will allow all viewers to use obscene words in chat.
You cannot use obscene language anywhere except streamer’s pages.

3. Insults and threats

Of course, both of these are not permitted on GoodGame.

Here is a short list of stuff that you are not allowed to do:

  • create, share or stream offensive content (streams and videos), comments and messages
  • share anyone’s personal information
  • share content in order to humiliate other person
  • create, post or share offensive comments, videos or streams about other person
  • post offensive messages about other people
  • do anything connected with sexual harassment
  • insult on others
  • say anything connected with hatred or discrimination: racial, ethnical harassment, religious harassment, sexual harassment, ageism, disability harassment, homophobia or transphobia, nationalism.
  • pretend that you are another person
  • any other kind of harassment

By the way, if you think that someone is breaking the rules, you can make a complaint or you can create a clip with a complaint.

4. Nude content

If your translation, video or photo in comments contains nude content, your stream will be turned off and banned without any warning. Video or comment will be immediately deleted, and your account will be striked. If you will get multiple strikes, your account will be banned.

5. List of completely inappropriate material

You will be permanently banned for streaming pornographic content, sports content(football, basketball, etc.), anything casino-like.

So, let’s talk about pros and cons of GoodGame:

7.5 Total Score
GoodGame is a pretty good option to consider.

The service cannot compete with Twitch but it one-ups gaming's biggest streaming site in some significant ways. However, while Twitch can learn a thing or two from GoodGame, it's still the best place to both watch and broadcast live-gaming video, thanks to its massive community of popular streamers and excellent broadcasting tools. But if you're specifically looking for a smaller website to start, GoodGame is definitely the choice for you.

PROS
  • 24/7 online support
  • Huge variety of social integrations
  • Stable servers
  • Many tournaments and contests
CONS
  • Lags are rare but can occur
  • Design could be much better
